Is Oklahoma a Title State or an Attorney State?
Oklahoma is a title state. Title and escrow companies typically handle the closing, and an attorney is not required at the closing itself. Attorneys still play a part behind the scenes: state law doesn't allow a title insurance commitment or policy to be issued until an Oklahoma-licensed attorney has examined the abstract of title.
